  1. Mauri
Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

Mauri isn’t exactly located in Canggu but it deserves to be on the list since I had a fantastic experience of Christmas dinner there and I’d like to share it with y’all. The fine-dining restaurant offers Italian dishes with a contemporary twist, plus wine. Chef Maurizio Bombini brings Puglia specialty to Bali through its simplicity and genuineness of taste, relying its taste on the freshness of local produces.

I and Adrien had a fabulous 5 course Christmas dinner in one of the restaurants in Canggu, Bali. Every appetizer, main course, and dessert was well-presented and tasted amazing.

I particularly enjoyed their choice of desserts and definitely its wines. They serve varied wines from all around the world. As far I could remember, I had wines from Italy, France, Austria, The US, and Australia. The Christmas 5-course menu costs $147 or IDR 2,1 mill per pax. When you’re around Canggu and Petitenget, you’ll definitely have to pay a visit to Mauri as well.

2. Thai Kitchen Canggu

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

From an upscale restaurant, we move to a simple kitchen in the heart of Berawa. Thai Kitchen Canggu is a restaurant in Canggu, Bali owned by a Thai living in Bali. It offers authentic Thai food in a simple home setting. I recognized its authenticity once I tried its food as I’ve eaten plenty of Thai food all around the world. It tastes exactly the same as Thai food I had in Bangkok and The US.

Been here a couple of times to eat Pad Thai and Green Curry Chicken and definitely would return soon. Very affordable.

3. Anaga

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

Another restaurant in Canggu, Bali you need to pay a visit, especially if you’re a fan of Thai food. Anaga is perfect for a hang-out or Sunday brunch since it has a nice & comfy setting, with mixed contemporary and oriental interior design. I was thinking to go there to enjoy Thai cuisine for lunch then reading on its balcony but unfortunately, the Bali weather was too hot. I ended up sitting inside with my friend. That’s also not bad.

Besides it’s nice interior design, I find the food in Anaga is pretty good. The green curry I had was a bit too spicy for my taste but my friend said the Thai sweet & sour chicken was tasty.

4. Sista Dumpling

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

People had been recommending me to try Sista Dumpling for quite some time, and I find it does worth a visit or two. The Chinese restaurant owned by a Shanghainese offers a variety of dumplings as its main dish. It has traditional dumplings as well as quite a few more creative ones that are fun to try, including several vegan options. Sista Dumpling also offers various Chinese food you’re already familiar with such as wonton soup, fried rice, and beef noodle.

5. Crate Cafe

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

Crate Cafe has been attracting young crowds and hipsters who like healthy food since it was once a small cafe on Jalan Batu Bolong. The new cafe located on Jalan Padang Linjong is more spacious and still full of people whenever I visit one of the restaurants in Canggu, Bali.

I like to have breakfast in Crate. Their food is not only healthy but also look aesthetic and come in huge portions, like American size 🙂 but the price is affordable. No wonder it becomes Canggu favorite. My favorite in Crate is The Barber, double french toast served with scrambled eggs, chicken/ bacon, and maple syrup. Some other menus you could try are chia smoothie, smoothie bowl, and super bowl salad.

The cafe is also pretty comfy for working, unless when Canggu weather is too hot. Crate Cafe also has an exhibition space where monthly galleries are held. The new space also has a boutique store selling some t-shirts.

6. Santorini

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

Attractive interior decoration is one thing I find stands out from the restaurant in Canggu, Bali. It would take the attention of anyone who happen to be passing the road Santorini located. Santorini is decorated exactly like the public image of Santorini island, dominated by white & blue-colored buildings and cobblestones street. No wonder the restaurant in Canggu, Bali is nearly full every dinner time.

I also find the food in the restaurant in Canggu, Bali pretty tasty, tasted like the food I had in Athens, Greece. We tried Greek salad, Mix platter, and Baklava (served with chocolate ice cream). Before we left the restaurant, they also gave us free yogurt. Nice service! One thing I hope they consider is to be using a typical cup to serve Ellinikos (Greek coffee).

7. Ulekan

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

One of the best places to get authentic Indonesian food in Bali. I’ve tried their fried duck and I find it pretty satisfying because it’s not only tasty but also comes in huge portions. I also get to choose to eat it with either white or brown rice. Besides the food, Ulekan also has a nice & comfy interior decoration, mixed between traditional Balinese & contemporary style. Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

A little cafe at Jalan Batu Mejan caught my attention when I just finished my yoga class in Samadi. Turned out it serves a selection of healthy food. I tried one of their brekkie wraps, it’s a bunch of veggies wrapped in a tortilla. It surprisingly tastes good! I also love their cappuccino.

9. La Baracca

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali
Some people have recommended I visit La Baracca and I became curious since it’s a pretty popular place to get Italian food. When I get there, I would say that the Italian restaurant Canggu decoration isn’t my kind of thing and we didn’t get the best spot (on the 2nd floor) because we didn’t have a reservation.

Although I am not impressed with their decoration and service, I have to admit that La Baracca food is pretty good. We tried salad, pesto, and carbonara pasta. If you’re curious with the restaurant in Canggu, Bali, you should pay a visit to one of their restaurant in Canggu, Petitenget, Ubud, or Uluwatu.

10. Hungry bird

Restaurant in Canggu, Bali

Both locals and foreigners in Canggu said Hungry Bird is a place to get a good coffee. I went there once but I find the coffee was just okay. Besides coffee, the restaurant in Canggu, Bali also serves food. I had breakfast there and also planned to work there for a few hours but sadly, it’s hard to work comfortably since it has a limited electric plugs. I also find the staff wasn’t helpful since they prefer to gather behind the bar and busy chatting with their coworkers instead of offering help to its customers.

Address : Jl. Raya Semat No.86, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

I think I won’t be stopping to write this kind of article since there are more businesses open in Canggu right now (which means tourism is starting to recover) including restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. But until I find the right time to visit every new place in Canggu, I’d recommend you to visit all of those restaurants in Canggu, Bali I mentioned above.
