Have you been waiting to visit Indonesia but constrained with quarantine requirements? No worries, the Indonesian government just announced a quarantine-free policy for international travelers. Starting from Wednesday, March 23, you can enter Indonesia (not only Bali) without any Covid-19 restrictions.

After a successful two-week trial of quarantine-free travel for visitors arriving on the main tourist islands of Bali, Bintan, and Batam, the Indonesian government decided to lift quarantine requirements for international travelers. Upon arrival in Indonesia, travelers only need to do a PRC test. Travelers also no longer need to show proof of booking of the government-approved hotels as required before.

Currently, there are 7 airports in Indonesia allowed to serve international arrivals: Soekarno-Hatta main international airport Jakarta; Ngurah Rai airport in Bali; Hang Nadim in Batam; Raja Haji Fisabilillah in Tanjung Pinang; Sam Ratulangi in Manado; Juanda in Surabaya; and Zainuddin Abdul Madjid in Central Lombok. International travelers also can enter Indonesia by sea via Tanjung Benoa, Batam, Tanjung Pinang, Bintan, and Nunukan port.

The free-quarantine policy is applied for travelers who have been fully vaccinated or got a booster shot. Upon arrival, travelers also need to show travel insurance that is covering for Covid-19. Meanwhile, those who haven’t been fully vaccinated are also welcome to visit Indonesia but they must undergo quarantine for 5 days and take PCR tests upon arrival and the 4th day of quarantine. Indonesians and foreigners who own a KITAS or KITAP with a negative Covid-19 test result but are not vaccinated yet must get their vaccine shot as they arrive in Indonesia.

Indonesia has been praised for accelerating its vaccine-roll out despite the vast geographical challenge. It has been vaccinated 75 per cent of its eligible population, and some 94 per cent of the people have received the first shot.
