10 Best Coffee Shop in Bali, Indonesia For Working & Hang Out

Coffee Shop in Bali

Bali has been the hotspot for digital nomads for a long. There are plenty of places for digital nomads working in Canggu and Ubud. But not everyone chooses to work in a coworking space. Some people prefer to work from a coffee shop in Bali to enjoy their favorite coffee, enjoy its great atmosphere, enjoy different views, or simply to relax while working. Here are the 10 best coffee shops in Bali I recommend you to try for working or just for hanging out.

Coffee Shop in Bali for Working & Hang Out

  1. Pison Coffee
Coffee Shop in Bali
Arguably the best coffee shop in Bali. I’ve been there many times to have their ice latte and for working. I love that their coffee is pretty strong and has been proven to help me work. The other coffee worth trying at Pison Coffee are long black and cappuccino. Pison also serves food such as egg benedict, pasta, and a variety of pastries like carrot cake and croissants. Although I love their coffee, in my opinion, the staff are less friendly compared with Bali standard in general.

The coffee shop in Bali has two outlets, Petitenget and Ubud. Pison Petitenget is decorated in minimalist industrial interior style while Pison Ubud is designed in Japanese contemporary style. I mostly go to Pison Petitenget for working since it’s closer, not noisy and has good internet service. If you enjoy live music performance while sipping a good coffee, you have to go to Pison Petitenget.

Address :

Petitenget : Jl. Petitenget No.19 A, Kerobokan Kelod, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Ubud : Jl. Hanoman No.10X, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

2. Revolver Espresso

Coffee Shop in Bali

It’s been around Bali since it’s still a hidden small coffee shop located behind a clothing store in Oberoi, Seminyak. Revolver Espresso is one of the best coffee shops in Bali known for its coffee and ambiance. It currently has 3 outlets, the first one in Oberoi, Seminyak, Baby Revolver in Petitenget, and Revolver Canggu.

Revolver Espresso is one of the first to bring Australian-style coffee to Bali. The company roasts and blends its beans in its own roastery using a retro Diedrich roaster as well as a new Giesen machine. Besides coffee & food, you could also find a selection of wine & cocktails in Petitenget & Canggu. My favorite is Revolver Canggu since it has a more spacious space compared with Oberoi & Petitenget, perfect for hanging in with friends. It also has outdoor seating. The outlet in Canggu is also often packed with crowds, especially on weekend nights. No wonder tourists and digital nomads consider Revolver as one of the best coffee shops in Canggu.

Address :

Oberoi :  Jl. Kayu Aya No.Gang 51, Seminyak, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Petitenget : Jl. Petitenget No.102X, Kerobokan Kelod, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Canggu : Jl. Nelayan No.5, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

3. Hungry Bird Coffee

Coffee Shop in Bali
Both locals and foreigners in Canggu said Hungry Bird is one of the best coffee shops in Canggu, Bali. I went there once but I find the coffee was just okay. Besides coffee, the coffee shop in Canggu, Bali also serves food. I had breakfast there and also planned to work there for a few hours but sadly, it’s hard to work comfortably since it has limited electric plugs. I also find the staff wasn’t helpful since they prefer to gather behind the bar and busy chatting with their coworkers instead of offering help to its customers.

But it was just my experience from one time visit. People still go there and I always see it’s packed which means Hungry Bird is worth a shot.

Address : Jl. Raya Semat No.86, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

4. Expat.Roasters

A friend told me that nearly every place in Bali uses coffee beans from Expat. Roasters. Well, I should try their coffee then. It turns out, the quality and taste of their coffee live up to their reputation. I love drinking cappuccino (with Patria blend) in the Expat brew bar in Petitenget. It tastes pretty strong and could help me to become productive at work. Expat. Roasters, an international coffee brand based in Bali, is founded and managed by the award-winning barista from Australia, Shae McNamara. Not only do they supply coffee beans to many restaurants, coffee shops, and businesses in Bali and other cities in Indonesia, but Expat. Roasters also available in Australia.

5. Baked

Coffee Shop in Bali

You’ll be curious about this coffee shop in Bali when passing by as I did. Baked is always seen packed with people queuing to get their morning coffee. Tourists from Jakarta in particular love to come to Baked and take selfies in front of their iconic wall. I went there just once since I can’t stand queuing just to get a coffee & breakfast. I find their coffee is pretty strong although I prefer to go somewhere I can sit and chat and the Baked’s seating room is rather limited.

Coffee Shop in Bali

Besides coffee, one of the best coffee shops in Canggu, Bali is famous for its scrambled eggs, coconut croissant, and almond croissant. If you wanna have breakfast in Baked, I suggest you come in the early morning to avoid a long queue or you can come to the 2nd outlet in Pererenan. It is usually less busy than the outlet in Berawa.

Address :

Berawa : Jl. Raya Semat Gg. Kupu kupu No.1, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Pererenan : Jl. Pantai Pererenan No.118, Pererenan, Kec. Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351

6. Coffee n Oven

Coffee Shop in Bali

It’s being my frequent place to have coffee and breakfast. I first came to the coffee shop in Canggu, Bali just because I was curious why many people go there, also I’ve heard once or twice that the bread in Coffee n Oven is good for Bali standard.

Coffee n Oven offers western breakfast and lunch menu with vegan and vegetarian options, also homemade fresh bakery & pastry. Check their special offer every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (egg benedicts and coffee/ tea for 65K). Their place is also pretty comfy for working although there’s no AC, only fan. So, the best is to go there when the weather isn’t too hot. The service is also pretty nice, I don’t have anything to complain hehe…

Address : Jalan Raya Pantai Berawa No. 51, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung, Bali 64217, Indonesia

7. Anomali Coffee

Coffee Shop in Bali

Anomali Coffee serves Arabica selections from all over Indonesia, some so exotic you might have never heard of before. Usually recommended are the Aceh and Toraja blends. The coffee shop in Canggu, Bali offers fresh specialty roasts and it is also a great stopover for bites with its wholesome food selections. Currently, it has 3 outlets in Bali; Ubud, Kuta, and Canggu.

Address :

Ubud : Jl. Raya Ubud No.88, Petulu, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

8. Touche

Coffee Shop in Bali

If you wanna have a coffee and chat in an aesthetically pleasing coffee shop in Canggu, Bali, you gotta come to Touche. Located in a quiet street in Pererenan, Touché has the right look: gleaming white surfaces, spaces in the wall for cool art, black steel doors, and an inviting vibe.

I went to the coffee shop in Canggu, Bali once to get coffee and work, and I find the place is pretty comfy. Besides coffee, Touche also offers an all-day breakfast menu and salads.

Address : Jl. Pantai Pererenan No.104, Pererenan, Kec. Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351

9. El Lago

Coffee Shop in Bali

One of the best coffee shops in Bali to visit if you wanna enjoy a sip of coffee while enjoying the breathtaking view of the majestic Mount Batur. I went there twice on different trips to Kintamani. Since I am impressed by the food, I returned to El Lago after finishing hiking to the summit of Mount Batur.

Coffee Shop in Bali

El Lago consists of two parts. The first floor is the modern coffee shop decorated in white & minimalist style, while the lower floor is an Indonesian restaurant named Sari Mountain View. I find the cappuccino in El Lago is just okay but the place is still worth visiting because of the mountain view and it has a good spot to take selfies with Mount Batur as the main background. The main goal of my visit is actually to eat Mujair Nyat-Nyat fish, a specialty food of Kintamani cooked with Balinese typical spices (bumbu genep) in Sari Mountain View restaurant on the lower floor. If you’re in Kintamani, you should try the fish as well!

Address : Penelokan Main Rd No.899, South Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali 80652

10. Montana del Cafe

Coffee Shop in Bali

One of my favorite coffee shops in Bali as it has mountain view and I am so into the mountains & the lake (the last Europe trip was arranged to visit some lakes around Europe!). I’ve been to Kintamani many times to soak in Toya Bongkah hot springs and to admire the wonder of Mount Batur. A few weeks ago, an invitation from new friends in Bali got me the chance to visit one of the most talked-about places in Bali. Montana del Cafe that is so popular on Instagram was packed by visitors who came to either enjoy the sip of coffee while overlooking the mighty mount Batur or taking some selfies. When you come here, you can opt to sit indoors or on the terrace. If the first floor is already packed, you can go downstairs to sit at the below terrace. I love this cafe very much. It felt so peaceful sitting at the terrace enjoying the mountains, forest, and Batur lake view although the cool wind made me chill a little bit. It didn’t feel as if I was in Bali but more like in some colder countries…

Address : Penelokan Main Rd No.889, South Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali 80652

With more coffee shops in Bali opening, you might think it’s gonna be harder to choose which one is the best coffee shop in Bali. But for me it’s simple, as long the coffee is pretty strong, tastes good, and can help me work, coupled with a pleasant coffee shop atmosphere, I will choose it as the best coffee shop in Bali.
